Dave Jones is a producer, director, animator and projection artist based in regional Victoria, has been practicing in this field for more than 20 years and won awards for his work both nationally and internationally.

As well as his own personal and commercial work, Dave also has an extensive community-arts practice. Through his ongoing ‘In My Day’, series Dave has sought to revitalize the oral history of Australia, working with children across the country to re-envision the stories told by older members of their own communities. Films from this series have won awards at both Melbourne International Film Festival and Melbourne Animation Festival.

Over the course of his career, Dave has developed a reputation for his work in the rapidly evolving field of digital theatre (integrating interactive real-time visuals into live performance) often working with aerial performers in large-scale outdoor public events.

In addition to the ground-breaking digital-theatre work he has made in collaboration with ACTnatimuk (Space and Place, 2003, Highly Strung 2009, Balance 2016), he has delivered large-scale animation and projection events for the likes of Federation Square, Malthouse Theatre, Black Arm Band, Legs on the Wall and the Australian High Commission.

In 2013 Dave received a Creative Australia Fellowship from the Australia Council to continue his exploration of digital-theatre and he remains one of Australia’s leading practitioners in this field today.
