Shadow Play

[ssba]

The ordinary made extraordinary... Community ritual and play captured in shadow and projected on outdoor surfaces throughout the town.

Description:

Audience Perspective:
Through the experience of a Shadow Laboratory, the ordinary activities that are part of our daily lives are captured in black and white. Once edited together, these shadow images are projected on large scale surfaces throughout town and seen with new eyes-The Ordinary Made extraordinary!
Presenter Perspective:
The community Shadow Lab captures the daily community rituals through half hour slots where community play with shadow and action. This is an opportunity for the local photographer/videographer/student/hobbyist to collaborate meaningfully with the artist on this process. The footage is edited into sequences and then projected on a variety of selected surfaces throughout the town. The high Contrast shadow images reinterpret architecture as projection screen and further add to the distortion of the action captivating the passerby.
